For €399.30, you get our 10-layer PCB with hard gold plating, NAND from established manufacturers, an individual test in a base M4 and the installation tools. Layer count is one design choice, not a measured failure-rate comparison with every cheaper drive. Compare the actual board, tests and seller support before choosing.

More layers can provide space for dedicated power and ground planes and signal routing. Our module has a 10-layer board, matching the original's stated layer count, and hard gold plating. Layer count alone cannot establish another drive's quality or prevent data loss. Our stated ~1,200 TBW figure works out to roughly 10 years to the write limit at 329 GB written a day, or 100 years at 33 GB a day; it does not guarantee that many calendar years of service. Keep backups whichever drive you choose.

Our third-party module uses a 10-layer board and NAND from established manufacturers. In our Blackmagic Disk Speed Test v3.4 run on a base M4, the 2TB module measured about 4400MB/s write and 3000MB/s read. We sell it for €399.30, compared with Apple's dated build-to-order upgrade price of €1,000; the 60% comparison is VAT-inclusive and excludes shipping and your installation time. It is not an Apple-made part.

Our module uses a 10-layer PCB and we test every unit in a base M4 before dispatch. We do not have comparable field-failure data for other sellers' drives, so check their actual specifications, testing and after-sales support rather than assuming layer count alone tells the whole story.

The physical installation takes about 45-60 minutes using the tools included free with your order (Torx T3, T5, T8 and an opening pick). You'll need to remove the bottom cover, inner plate, fan, and old SSD module. After installing the new SSD, restoring macOS through Finder on a second Mac and migrating your Time Machine backup adds another 30-60 minutes. Total time: approximately 75-120 minutes (about 1.5-2 hours).

No. Every SSD ships with the full toolkit for free: Torx T3, T5, and T8 bits plus an opening pick. That's everything you need to open the Mac mini, swap the SSD, and reassemble it. The only extras you supply are a second Mac and a USB-C cable for the macOS restore.

Yes, you'll need another Mac running macOS 14 or later for the initial Finder-based DFU restore. After that one-time setup, your Mac mini works independently. If you don't have access to another Mac, borrow one for the restore: it is only needed once.

In the EU, fitting a third-party module does not automatically cancel your rights against Apple for unrelated faults. Apple may refuse to cover damage caused by the installation. Keep your original module: refitting it restores the original hardware configuration before service, but does not move your data between modules. Check your AppleCare terms if applicable. As with any product sold to consumers in the EU, the statutory two-year legal guarantee applies to our module.

Our SSDs are extensively tested before shipping, so installation issues are rare. If you encounter any problems, contact our support team immediately and we'll help you troubleshoot, and we'll replace any defective units at no cost.

The current version is designed for the base M4 Mac mini only. A version for the M4 Pro is in development; leave your email address and we'll send you a single email when it's available.

Our Blackmagic Disk Speed Test v3.4 screenshot shows 4441.6 MB/s write and 2992.1 MB/s read for our 2TB module on a base M4 (16GB RAM, macOS 15.2). The store owner's original Apple 2TB result was 3217.9 MB/s write and 2668.4 MB/s read. That is about 38% higher sequential write and 12% higher sequential read in these individual runs, not a guaranteed difference on every unit or workload. The main everyday change is more startup-disk space.

You can notify us within 14 days of delivery that you want to cancel, then return the item within 14 days. You may inspect it as in a shop; extra handling may reduce your refund. Faulty items are covered by your statutory legal guarantee. See our Returns & Refunds page for details.

Orders are dispatched within 1 business day with tracking; orders placed before 14:00 (Amsterdam time), Monday to Saturday, usually ship the same day. Delivery then takes 1 to 5 business days within the EU. You get the tracking details by email as soon as your parcel is on its way.

Every order ships with tracking, and until the parcel is in your hands it stays our responsibility, not yours. If it is delayed, lost, or arrives damaged, contact us: we chase it up with the courier and either send a replacement or refund you in full. You do not have to file a claim with the carrier yourself.

Our store is new, and we're focused on doing one thing well: a premium third-party 10-layer NVMe SSD upgrade for the Mac mini M4. We offer special pricing to early customers and test every SSD before shipping. Like every EU webshop, we are bound by EU consumer law, including the 14-day right of withdrawal and the legal guarantee.

Apple offers the base Mac mini M4 with at most 2TB of storage, and 2TB is the largest module we currently sell for it. We only sell capacities we have tested in a base M4.
