What is in the box, and the 2-year guarantee
Your order contains everything needed to open the Mac Mini and fit the module. This page lists it item by item, says what is deliberately not included, and explains how the guarantee and the right of return work when you install the part yourself.
In the box
- The SSD module in the capacity you ordered, 1TB or 2TB, tested before it ships.
- Torx T3, T5 and T8: the three sizes the Mac Mini M4 uses, from the bottom cover to the module screw.
- An opening pick, for the bottom cover and for lifting the old module.
The module arrives in plain protective packaging. It does not carry our name or logo; the branding you see on this site is not printed on the box. What you receive is the part itself, packed to survive the post.
Not in the box, on purpose
- A USB-C cable. Most people own one. A data-capable cable is needed for the DFU restore.
- A second Mac. The restore runs from another Mac with Apple Configurator; see the DFU restore guide.
- Screws. The module is fixed with the screw from your original module, so nothing is left over.
The 2-year guarantee
As a consumer in the EU you have a two-year legal guarantee of conformity from CDCT, the company behind PCB Innovations. If the module is defective, stops working or does not do what we say it does, you are entitled to a repair, a replacement or a refund, and the return is at our cost. Email [email protected] with your order number and a description.
This is the legal guarantee, not a paid warranty, and it is ours, not Apple's. It does not cover damage caused during installation, such as a bent connector or a cracked board from forcing the module. Follow the guide and take your time: the hardware part is not difficult, but it is not to be rushed.
Apple's warranty and the upgrade
Opening the Mac Mini and fitting a third-party module does not cancel your rights against Apple as a whole. Apple can decline to repair a fault that the upgrade caused, and it may ask you to refit the original module before service. That is the reason to keep the original module: with it back in place, the machine is as delivered.
If AppleCare matters to you, read its terms before you upgrade. We cannot promise what Apple will do.
Changed your mind: 14 days
You may return the order within 14 days of receiving it without giving a reason. Tell us first by email, send it back in its original condition with the tools, and pay the return postage yourself. We refund the full amount including the original shipping within 14 days of receiving it. The returns page has the address and the details.

- Are the tools any good, or should I buy proper ones?
- They are adequate for the job: the Torx sizes are correct and the pick is what the bottom cover needs. If you own a good precision driver set, use that; the included tools are there so nobody is stuck.
- How do I know the module was tested?
- Every module is tested in a Mac Mini M4 before it is packed. A module that fails that test is not shipped.
- What do I need to keep for a guarantee claim?
- The order confirmation email with the order number. Nothing else: no registration, no serial-number form.
- Is the shipping cost refunded if the module is faulty?
- Yes. For a defective module we pay the return postage and refund or replace, including the original shipping cost.
